When my friend Robin gave me the prophetic word about writing a children’s book, she also gave me a song connected to the book. The name of the song is ‘The Warrior Is a Child’. I had never heard the song before, so I found it on itunes and proceeded to listen to it over and over and over again. You get the picture, I listened to it a lot! The song was even in my head when I woke up in the morning.
The song was inspirational in writing Belinda’s story. As I listened to the song, the story unfolded. Ideas sprang up. I just had to be quiet and listen and hear. That’s how the Holy Spirit works sometimes. I grew to love the song and what it said to me. My hope is that you find the song and really really listen to it. And let me know if it speaks to you like it spoke to me. Or find your own personal song for inspiration.
There’s a phrase in the song that goes like this: People say that I’m amazing, strong beyond my years. But they don’t see inside of me, I’m hiding all the tears.
Here are a couple of more lines in the song: They don’t know that I go running home when I fall down. They don’t know who picks me up when no one is around. I drop my sword and cry for just a while cause deep inside this armor, the warrior is a child.
I love music and the inspiration it ignites! Songs tell stories, you just have to be quiet and listen!
